Last week, the University of Nicosia (UNIC) welcomed motivated trainees and trainers for a three-day IDEAL advanced course about infectious diseases.
UNIC organized its second IDEAL advanced training in infectious diseases last week (22-24 May, 2026) after the success of the first edition in May 2025.
Teachers from Cyprus, Belgium, Greece and Portugal join to deliver a course to medical students and raise awareness among them about the rise of emerging pathogens, pandemic preparedness and the importance of communication between all the stakeholders involved in the medical process.
The IDEAL course covered vaccination hesitancy, public health preparedness, communication crisis strategies and emergency decisions using the One Health and infectious diseases’ scope.
Practical workshops, interactive cases and simulation exercises lit up the workshop and gave the students the opportunity to test their skills and to put themselves in position of health professionals facing and managing an unexpected emergency crisis.
Another way to learn and teach medicine and its challenges on the threshold of new demanding issues.
