From September, 19th to September, 22nd, Universiteit Antwerpen welcomed the first Summer School of the IDEALiTER project era.

Focused on pandemic preparedness, the IDEAL programme summer school gathered 23 students of 11 countries and 30 speakers of 15 different institutions. For three days, the students and the teachers and health professionals shared, among others, about ethical issues in outbreaks, vaccination and public health crisis, hospital outbreak management and chronic impact of a pandemic.

Through innovative teaching methods like quizzes, case-based and simulation exercises and interactives sessions, the IDEAL teachers conveyed new ways of learning medicine to the students. It was also the occasion for the students to exchange about their studies in each of their countries and the way that they are dealing with learning medicine. Even more after the experience of the COVID pandemic.

Next IDEAL programme summer school will take place in Hamburg during the summer 2024. The precise dates will determined within the next few months.
