They were from Athens, Antwerp, Rome, Paris or Hamburg. They were doctors, nurses and general practitioners. For three days, they shared their passion about health and teaching and learned about innovative and funny ways to bring knowledge to the students without using the ex-catedra method.

Under the expertise of the Utrecht Medical University educationalists, the teachers from IDEAL medical institutions delivered to the trainees several workshops introducing them to new, refreshing ways of teaching health sciences to students.

Each participant was able and encouraged to test the different IDEAL tools for building more innovative and engaging courses:  serious games, simulation, faculty development, case-based clinical reasoning, team-based learning.

This seminar was also the moment to remind each participant that they are a large part of the dissemination of the project. Using the IDEAL teaching methods on a daily basis, they help to spread the word, integrate IDEAL methods into their regular curriculums and convince new teachers to adopt this innovative way of delivering knowledge.

This new edition of the “Train the Trainers” seminar was also the occasion to share good practices and discuss about the way of teaching in each of the universities represented and find ways to improve medical teaching in the future… And why not become one of the trainers next year?
